Bury Knowle’s biggest, brightest totally free event!

Large crowds came to Bury Knowle Park for the 14th annual Headington Summer Funday!

Saturday 13th July, 2pm – 5pm in Bury Knowle Park

It was another great afternoon this year, with friends, family… and lots of new people! Everybody enjoyed the free tea & cakes, free BBQ, free bouncy castle and games– what a bonus that everything was free – that’s the whole idea behind the Summer FunDay.

The Penalty shoot-out, Raingutter Regatta and bouncy castles went down well, with bigger queues than ever for the ever-popular face painting. And the weather didn’t let us down – just the right amount of sun and warmth to ensure that there was no burning (except perhaps on the BBQ – oops!).

We hope you found it a great way to enjoy being part of the Headington community! And we’ll be back – look out for the Funday again in July 2020.

14th Headington Funday

Fourteen years and no sign of stopping yet!

The Headington Funday has now run for 14 years, and usually the weather is fantastic, but we have faced torrential rain and winds strong enough to destroy gazebos! But on those lovely summer days in Bury Knowle Park we expect some 2,000 to 3,000 guests.

It has always been a happy, relaxed atmosphere, with something for all ages, from crazy games to a quiet cuppa, and we are thankful that it was the same this year.

Look out for us again in July 2020 in Bury Knowle Park, Headington!

Thanks to our donors

We are very grateful to those who support us

The Funday is organised and partially funded by Churches Together in Headington, the umbrella organisation which brings together all the churches in Headington, regardless of denomination.

Generous donations from local shops, businesses and organisations and our member churches makes up the remainder of our funding – that’s how it can be maintained as a free event for all who attend.

A very big thank you to all who contributed to the FunDay’s success this year, especially to Waitrose and Partners for their generous contribution from their Community Matters pot.

Can you help? There’s lots to do!

The Funday works because of some 100 volunteers form the local churches coming along and making the event run with a lovely, gracious spirit. Some start early to set up the site, some stay late to pack away, others man the event itself, and some do the whole day. Can you help in 2020? Visit this page again in the new year to offer your services or fill in the form now if you’re an early bird!
